LOOKING FORWARD

It is exciting to win a World Cup. The celebrations last for weeks. Winners notice that things change in everyday life. The celebration is well deserved. The same is true in spiritual things. The moment you believe the celebrations begin. Jesus, in Luke 15.10, said, “I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Even if you do not see people around you in a party atmosphere over what you have just believed, you can be sure Jesus was telling the truth. The angels have a party for you. It would be a good thing for you to seek out some Christians so they can celebrate with you. None of us would expect the winning team of the World Cup to try to keep it a secret, nor should you
try to keep this a secret. When the winning team returns home they will be surrounded by people who are excited. They will spend a lot of time with people who love the World Game and with their family. Again there is a spiritual equivalent. When you return home you need to seek out people who are excited about your faith. God gave us the church as a place where we can celebrate our salvation together. It should be a church that believes the Bible from cover to cover, and is a place where you can worship AND learn more about God through the study of the Bible. Throughout history people have been known to put this off. That is why the Bible tells us to be careful about, “not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on…” Hebrews 10.25.
